Simpsons in MMORPG

I love it when great shows reference the MMORPG worlds. The Simpsons is no exception. Just from the beginning when Marge has to accept a dodgy EULA I started to laugh. Bart’s attitude at the end is just precious. It reminds me of all the people I’ve talked to who have become hooked but one day just say “Ah – whatever!”.

Yay – Second Life and Sundance!

I haven’t been excited about Second Life for a long time – but this – this is what I’ve been looking forward to!!

Mark Wallace reports that the Sundance Channel(there’s a channel?!!) is coming to Second Life. From the press release:

“Sundance Channel’s SL screening room will be used to showcase films,
documentaries, shorts and original series and to host unique interactive events
with filmmakers and other independent thinkers”

Yes! Yes! Yes! By gosh someone’s got it!!! They’re starting off with Four Eyed Monsters – which I’m really looking forward to!
I just sincerely hope that they’ll take this new audience seriously and not just think that because it’s a virtual world they’ll only want to watch virtual world themed shows. This is a wonderful place to introduce independent film makers from all over the world!!! Gawww – yeah!!! Just think of all the wonderfulness that’s out there that we don’t get to see because no one’s buying! And experiencing such things is done so much better together with someone! And the communities – ohhhhh! I just see so many beautiful things happening from this partnership I’m going way overboard!
Update: Well – I haven’t been paying attention have I? Tony Walsh at Clickable Culture is a bit more sceptic – with good reason! But if it can really be done! I still say go go go!!!

Korean Energy Commercial

So…I’m on the trail of fact finding! Sigh! I didn’t know it would be this hard? What? Am I too tired to think straight? Anyways – going through some previous blog stuff – like Korea’s legislature on MMOs, which ofcourse led me GameStudy – a study group for gaming culture of Korea which in turn led me to this commercial! It translates to: “All of Youth, It is time for taking “Enerzen”. While your competitors are sleeping, You, brave new worker, should recharge your energy for the win”.

First off – hahahahhahahahaha! Brave new worker!!!! Hehe! How lovely!!!
And then there’s the Americanized singing in the end! Hoooo hooo! Oh, I know I should take these things much more seriously – I’m just tired! And I want to find my freakin facts!!!!!! Anyways…enjoy!

What’s the point of having a blog if I don’t share?

I’ve noticed that my del.icio.us’ing has minimized my blogging immensley! And I have way too many posts that I haven’t finished yet! Sometimes I just don’t post stuff because I’m sure EVERYONE’S informed from somewhere else, which is the case with this lovely coke ad! I didn’t want to like it, but I think it’s just beautiful!!!! I’m gonna see if I can tidy things up this week and get some of these unfinished posts out, blog the stuff tagged ‘toblog’ – and then there’s THE WORK!

Daily Show On Violent Video Games

So…there’s a lot of yoo ha in the states about violent video games and whether retailers should be forced by law to follow the ESRB’s recomendations. So pretty much what we have here in Europe – if the game’s rated 15 retailers should make sure not to sell to under 15 year olds. Now…if a grandma decides to buy an 18 rated game for her 14 year old grandson – that’s her problem. I’m so tempted to become a ludologist here – because sometimes I really do feel that the fiction of a game just provides the rules for gameplay, it’s meaning isn’t that essential when playing games. But – then I realize that I’m just saying that because I enjoy violent gameplay (although it’s been a while now!). Anyways!!!! I found this video hysterical! His new rating of “Child trapped in man’s body” is funny and the politicians are just soooo amusing as well!!!

Second Life

To those of you who haven’t been curious enough to enter Second Life yet – here’s a great little tour of some fabulous stuff Second Lifers have created! It’s beautiful, I must say! And they’ve even made they’re own version of Guiness; Goodness – awwwww…isn’t that sweet?!!

Taken from Pierce P. tv – there’s more machinima there if you want it!
